Live music back at the Wayside

By BEN WILLIAMS, Staff Writer

MT. PLEASANT — Wednesday nights just got a lot more entertaining in town. That seemed to be the general consensus of those in attendance at the first ever Dynamic Duo Entertainment/Wayside Central live hip hop showcase presented last month.

It was the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication to the local music scene for everyone involved. The talented line-up provided an incredible experience for those new to the local entertainment scene as well as the seasoned listeners in the crowd.

When asked about his thoughts on the success of the night, DJ Schaf-town said, “Personally, I was pleased at the same time I was kind of bummed. I was hoping for it to be bigger for all intents and purposes. We got asked to come back so that’s one step in the right direction.”

On Wednesday, March 21, Wayside Central will once again be teaming up with Mount Pleasant’s own Dynamic Duo Entertainment to bring a second installment in what hopes to be a long series of live local hip hop showcases. The line-up for this Wednesday includes some wily veterans of the scene as well as some talented local upstarts. Showcasing their talents will be XXCEL, A-RO, MITZPHITZ and STRYVE.

DJ Schaf-Town predicted, “People can expect a little bit of the same recipe. I believe it will be a better turn-out based on the success of the last one.”

When asked if he believed this showcase would become synonymous with Wednesday nights in Mt. Pleasant, he said, “Yes. That’s what we are really working to see, and so far it seems like people have taken to it.”

What the future line-ups will look like is a mystery for now. DJ Schaf-Town was tight-lipped about the future acts that will grace the stage at Wayside Central as part of his showcases going forward.  “I plead the 5th,” was his only response.

This Wednesday we get a chance to see whether or not the local community has put their faith and support behind this endeavor. Doors open at 9 p.m. For more information, contact Wayside Central directly, or DJ Schaf-Town via Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/DJSchafTown.
