Seats still available for Matt Faulkner’s “Kid’s Book Illustration Nation” workshop

By JANET SOWLE, Editor

Calling all artists! Remember the books you loved as a child? Mid Michigan Community College (MMCC) is offering the opportunity for you to take Matt Faulkner’s “Kid’s Book Illustration Nation” Workshop.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Cost is only $30 as the Art & Design Club and MMCC Art Department are providing partial funding. You do not need to be a MMCC student to participate.

Faulkner has illustrated more than 30 books and is currently working on a graphic novel about the Japanese-American internment during World War II for Disney/Hyperion Publishing.

The workshop will include multiple topics including an introduction to children’s book illustration, illustrations he’s currently creating for Disney, a review of water-based materials, self promotion and more. You also will have the opportunity to work on a project during the workshop.

To register for the workshop, go to the cashier’s office on either the Harrison or Doan Campus. Payment must be made at the time of registration. Space is limited.

  1. This workshop is now full. I believe there may be a waiting list, but I’m not sure. Check with the cashier’s office on either the Harrison or Doan Campus.
