MT. PLEASANT — Linda Craig will present the Art of Quilting for the Let’s Do Lunch Series on Wednesday, June 6. Let’s Do Lunch is an event held by Art Reach that showcases local artists from noon to 1 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are provided.
Craig, a former part-time professor at both Central Michigan University and Mid Michigan Community College, is delighted to showcase her work at Art Reach. After experimenting in the world of watercolor for a number of years, quilting has become her medium of choice.
Besides hundreds of embroidered gingerbread dolls, Craig has made more than 150 quilts and quilted wall hangings for gifts, donations, displays and trunk shows. As she becomes more experienced in the art, she’s begun creating her own designs by incorporating color, line, symmetry and luminosity.
Craig said she takes pride in seeing the world differently than most people. Her eyes see the light and dark shadows of things, interesting juxtapositions of shapes and focal points enclosed within a prescribed border. She said her only limitation is not having enough time to express all of her ideas.
