Laker Current staff report
Are you smarter than a moose? If you think you might be, consider trying to qualify for a year of free tuition at Mid Michigan Community College.
Radio station 94.5 FM (commonly called The Moose) has teamed up with MMCC and is in the midst of a contest with the grand prize of 24 free college credits.
“Whether you’re graduating high school this year, you graduated years ago and want to get back to college, or you’re enrolled in college now and want help paying down your tuition, you’re eligible to win,” according to Moose contest rules.
To enter the contest, you first must quality. Listeners over age 18 have a chance to qualify three times each weekday, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. If you’re the lucky caller, you’ll be asked a question (which could be silly or serious) and be given a list of potential answers. If you select the correct answer, you’re included in the grand prize trivia event, which will be held on Saturday, July 7, on the MMCC Mt. Pleasant campus.
At the grand prize event, each qualifier will be quizzed one at a time. Missing a question eliminates that qualifier from winning. Questions will continue until only one winning qualifier remains.
The qualification period began June 4 and continues through Friday, June 29. For a complete list of rules, visit the station’s web site at www.945themoose.com.
Jessica Gordon, MMCC’s director of marketing, helped spearhead the contest idea.
“A promotion like this seemed like a win-win,” Gordon said. “The radio station is very excited to have such a huge giveaway to offer listeners and one that could really change a listener’s life. And, the college benefits through all of the exposure it receives.”
Gordon noted that rather than just hearing pre-recorded ads about MMCC, radio listeners are hearing about the college from station deejays during live broadcasts. “That allows richer content about the college’s values and offerings, and it’s much more interactive and fun,” she added.
