HARRISON — The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC) has announced recognition of Marie Elliott as the statewide MI-SBTDC Outstanding Business Counselor of the year.  Elliott’s efforts in 2011 helped companies obtain more than $3.1 million in capital formation that supported the creation of 51 new jobs and retaining eight jobs.  Additionally, she helped eight companies start up and begin earning revenue.

Each year the MI-SBTDC’s statewide network recognizes one business consultant whose efforts have resulted in the betterment of the entire program and the people it serves.

“Marie’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental in elevating the success of our entire region,” said Tony Fox, Mid Michigan SBTDC Regional Director. “She truly is a team player.”

Elliott originally joined the Mid Michigan SBTDC in 2002, serving as Regional Director.  In 2005, she was hired as Director of Human Resources at Mid Michigan Community College.  Elliott returned to the Mid Michigan SBTDC as a business consultant in 2008.

The MI-SBTDC is a statewide business assistance partner program of the U.S. Small Business Administration, providing one-on-one counseling, training, and research support for Michigan small businesses. The Mid Michigan Regional office is hosted at Mid Michigan Community College and also receives local support from Central Michigan University Research Corporation.
