HARRISON — On Aug. 25, Mid Michigan Community College Hockey will host a golf outing at Tamaracks Golf Course in Harrison. All proceeds from the outing will be used for further development of hockey programming at the college.
The 4-person scramble will begin at 8:30 a.m., with lunch provided at the turn and dinner following the event. The cost is $60 per person, and registrations must be received by Aug. 22. Download the registration form at midmich.edu/HockeyGolfOuting.pdf
The MMCC Hockey team already has a full schedule of 20 games planned. It will be self-sustaining, generating its own funding apart from the college. Funds will be raised through sponsorships, fund raisers, private donations, and players’ dues. Volunteers will coach and organize the team.
The team will practice and host games at both the I.C.E. Arena in Mt. Pleasant and the Gladwin Community Arena in Gladwin. They will practice twice a week, with games on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Tryouts for the team will take place Aug. 29 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant I.C.E Arena. All MMCC students enrolled in 9 credits with a 2.0 GPA (if a returning student) are eligible. Cost for tryouts is $20.
