Aug 28: Auditions for “Leaving Iowa” from 3-6 p.m. at the MMCC Auditorium on the Harrison Campus. Rehearsals will be from 3-6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Aug. 31-Sept. 1: Yoder’s Amish Auction located at 10885 Leaton Road, Clare. More than 100 vendors come out to sell their goods at this weekend event. Authentic Amish hand-made quilts, great deals on flea market finds and good food. (989) 386-2872.

Sept. 6: There will be a book signing by Robert Knapp on his history of Clare from 4-8 p.m. at Clare City Park. Sept. 7: Depression Art and Soup Line Tour will be held in Clare.  Dr. Tom Moline, former Superintendent of Clare, will be the keynote speaker. Tours start at 11 a.m. in the Clare Middle School Auditorium. Tours will include Clare Middle School murals, Clare Post Office, Clare Congregational Church, and the Doherty Hotel. The proceeds will be used to refurbish the Pioneer Mother, the statue in front the Clare Middle School. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Doherty Hotel.

Sept. 8: CCF Chariots of Fire Car Show at Clare Christ Fellowship, 3260 E. Colonville Road in Clare. Bring your classic vehicle to show off and have the opportunity to win trophies. Sept. 16: MMCC’s 20th Annual Barbecue & Fall Festival from 12-4 p.m. on the Harrison Campus. Events include live music, Kiss the Pig, Cruis’n Classics, Children’s Train and Games, Clare County Arts Council Show and an 1880 Chuck Wagon.
