“Leaving Iowa” is a warm, funny, sentimental comedy about family and family vacations. More specifically, it is the story of Don Browning, a middle-aged writer who returns home after a longer than intended delay, to take his father’s ashes to their final resting place.
The father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don’s past memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood. Don comes to reconcile his past and present with many side-trips, changes of plans, personal reflections and encounters with plenty of memorable characters.
Nominated for Best New Play in the country by the Detroit Free Press, the play has received critical acclaim. It is guaranteed to have you laughing and remembering the childhood vacations you tried to forget.
Tickets can be purchased in the Harrison Campus Bookstore. For credit card orders using Visa, MasterCard or Discover, call the bookstore during regular business hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.to 3 p.m. on Fridays.
