Surviving the family road trip

By JANET SOWLE, Editor

We’ve all had to suffer through them — the dreaded annual road trips with our families. Leaving Iowa, MMCC Theatre’s upcoming production, leads us all down memory lane with Dan Browning, a middle-aged writer.

Browning returns home, after a longer than intended delay, to take his father’s ashes to their final resting place. The journey presents past memories of the annual vacations of his childhood. He comes to reconcile his past and present with side-trips, reflections and encounters with memorable characters.

A tribute of the family road trip, Leaving Iowa, will be presented at the MMCC Auditorium on the Harrison campus.

Matinees are set for Nov. 8, 13 and 15 at 2 p.m. Tickets for the optional buffet luncheon are available for Nov. 15. Show-only tickets are still available for Nov. 8 and 13. Tickets are $8 for the show only or $20 for the luncheon and show. Luncheon tickets must be purchased in advance and seating is limited.

Evening performances are Nov. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under.
