When times get rough, often the first ones to feel the pinch are our local animal shelters. For many people the hard choice to give up a loving pet to a shelter is not an ideal situation, but a cruel fact of reality, while shelters are left shouldering the burden of tough times with overcrowding and dwindling supplies.
This past January, the Laker Current student newspaper held its first animal needs and food drive. Thanks to the support of Mid Michigan Community College students and staff along with overwhelming support from Blodgett Oil Company, three local shelters are receiving much needed supplies.
All donations are going to the care and support of our local shelter animals as they await their forever home. On Feb. 15, the Isabella County shelter became the first recipient of such donations as food, toys, leashes, collars and cleaning supplies. Donations also are headed for the Clare and Gladwin animal shelters.
Thank you, everyone, for your generous support.
