Apply for your passport
Mid Michigan Community College will be holding a passport application event from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. The event, held in Room 119 at the Doan Center in Mt. Pleasant, will allow students and staff to pick up passport applications and get their passport photographs taken by representatives from the Isabella County Clerk’s office. MMCC will hold two separate Career Expos to provide an opportunity for students and the public to gain more knowledge on a variety of career options. Local professionals also will be attending to give insight on their personal experiences in the field. Staff members will be available to answer any questions. The two events will be held 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Atrium on the Pickard campus in Mt. Pleasant and 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Soar Center Lobby in Harrison.
Rust Shaker bike marathon
If you’re a biking enthusiast, the 2013 Rust Shaker bike marathon will be held on April 13. More than 100 bikers will gather at the MMCC Harrison campus to ride one of the newest trails in Michigan. There is a 14-mile and a 28-mile option for riders. An entrance fee must be paid in advance to compete in the race. The fee is $25 if paid before April 5 and $35 after that date. In case of poor weather conditions, the race will be delayed until April 27. Registration can be completed online at https://www.bikereg.com/Net/17971 or you can turn in a printed version. A Northern Tradition
The MMCC Foundation’s biggest annual fundraising event, A Northern Tradition, will be held from 6-9 p.m. April 21 at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare. Tickets are $50 each and include a
$25 gift certificate to Jay’s. In addition, guests will receive a limited edition print, exclusive
shopping privileges, local cuisine, and a chance to win a $1,000 gift certificate. Proceeds from
the event enable MMCC to continue to provide scholarships, program development, improved
