This very funny comedy takes place in 1949 Second Samuel, a sleepy little town in Georgia. The original town, Samuel, was burned during the civil war when Sherman marched through Georgia. The plucky townspeople rebuilt and named it Second Samuel.
When the piano teacher, beloved, sweet Miss Gertrude passed away, deep dark secrets are revealed and the town is turned upside down. Filled with memorable characters, the plot unravels to find everyone looking within themselves and rethinking their previous convictions, but with humor.
The characters in Second Samuel range from rednecks to doctors to undertakers and hairdressers and merchants. Some are grumpy and some are sunny. They are warm, caring, and very funny — much like those in Mayberry.
The cast is comprised of 7 men and 4 women. All are adults and all adult ages will be considered. One of the women should be a good singer.
