MMCC hockey team seeking players
MMCC hockey coach Barney Ledford is looking for some interested players for the coming season. Players do not need to be totally committed at this time, but Ledford hopes to determine a level of interest of area players. All interested hockey players should contact Ledford at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, May 9. The cost to play will be determined by fundraisers, donations and other contributions. There are also player payment options as well, including full season or half season. Players must meet the academic and other rules and standards that are set by the ACHA.
Travel abroad fundraising event
Two nursing and Phi Theta Kappa students, Dani Davis and Bridget Banfield, have been invited to travel to Christchurch, New Zealand, and Sydney, Australia, to participate with other nursing students to learn about their health care system and midwifery. A fundraiser to help finance the trip will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9 and 10 at Grout Township Hall, 1490 S. Grout Road in Gladwin. There will be homemade baked goods and items for sale, including clothes, furniture, shoes and more. The trip will take place from May 24 – June 2. Anyone interested in assisting the students should attend the sale. Persons interested in donating to help sponsor the student trip should contact Davis (989-492-1865) or Banfield (989-859-3644).
