Doug Jacobson, Chair of Mid Michigan Community College’s Board of Trustees, recently received a new appointment on the Michigan Community College Association’s (MCCA) Board of Directors. Jacobson has been appointed secretary of the Trustees Committee, which provides him a seat on the Executive Committee of the MCCA as well.
Functioning as a collective, the MCCA advocates on behalf of all of Michigan’s 28 community colleges on state-level legislative issues. Each college’s president and one trustee serve on the MCCA’s Board of Directors, and Jacobson has been MMCC’s trustee representative for many years.
As a member of MCCA’s Executive Committee, Jacobson will take part in preparing the organization’s budget and setting the direction of the MCCA at large.
“MMCC might be a mid-sized community college,” notes Jacobson, “but we have a regional influence and we bring a number of important insights to the table. I’m very pleased to have been elected to this new role with the MCCA, and I look forward to bringing a rural community college view to a statewide organization.”
