Today, Mid Michigan Community College, granted approval by the State of Michigan in 1965, achieves the vision of that Study Committee.
At the February Board of Trustees meeting, MMCC’s trustees signed a resolution expressing appreciation to those devoted individuals, declaring “its gratitude for the dedicated efforts of the members of the Study Committee who had the leadership & vision to create a college and educational opportunity for our communities.”
A special 50th Anniversary website has been developed to commemorate MMCC’s longstanding service to the mid-Michigan area. The February Board resolution, along with the names of the Study Committee members, can be viewed at midmich.edu/50 The public is encouraged to participate in celebrating with MMCC. An anniversary event calendar, historical photos, interactive timeline, and college history are all available on the anniversary website.
From its initial establishment to the present day, MMCC has provided educational and community leadership for the development of human ability. Through its academic programs, community education, and customized training, the college provides the knowledge and skills necessary for success in a global society. But, without the hard work and dedication of visionary citizens and without the continued support from local community members, MMCC would have no legacy to celebrate.
