The Clare County Arts Council’s Quilt Block Committee proudly raised a quilt block at the Clare County Police Department recently making the number of quilts on barns, businesses, libraries, government buildings and homes grow to 30 with orders for more.
This is an ongoing project sponsored by the Clare County Arts Council (CCAC).
The goal is to promote economic development, bring attention to the unique architecture and history of barns and other significant historical sites and buildings in Clare County and area and to promote quilting as an artistic expression.
With the success of the quilt trail, the first annual Quilt Festival is planned for May 15 and 16 in downtown Clare at the Venue.
There will be raffle tickets for a queen-size quilt, a wall hanging and a table runner.
Cops and Doughnuts will be making free Quilt Cookies.
Spaces will be available to rent for $20.
There will be samples of quilt fabrics for sale and a People’s Choice vote on quilts before 1950 Heirloom and 1950 to current.
Watch for more details as the time nears.
